The Gear Patrol Magazine
Debuting in October 2015, Gear Patrol's print edition is a quarterly book that highlights the absolute best of what the publication can do. Gear Patrol Magazine is a deep dive into product culture. Inside each issue, you'll find seasonal buying guides, rich profiles and long-form reports. Highlights have included Heli-skiing in British Columbia, surfing in Sri Lanka, driving alone on the the world's most notorious racetrack in western Germany and eating far too much barbecue in central Texas.
My role in the Gear Patrol Magazine began even before issue one was started in the summer of 2015. The goal was to translate Gear Patrol’s web-exclusive design, photography and storytelling into something that felt higher touch and more timeless. To achieve this goal for 14+ issues, I dispatched staff photographers and writers to various corners of the globe, coordinated on-location freelance production from afar, and managed a roster of graphic designers and editors. Each issue has also featured production for our in-house creative studio: GPS. Clients have included Indian Motorcycles, Danner Boots, Casio, The North Face, Bell & Ross, and Tudor Watches. The magazine has won Folio awards in 2016 for Best overall magazine design and best new magazine (Under 250k circulation), a MIN award for Best New Magazine Launch and a Communication Arts award for Best Editorial Design.
