The anchor of my 5 years experience in the media industry is as Photography Editor of Gear Patrol — a product-focused men's lifestyle publication. This has most often manifested itself in work on the website. My role has evolved at the company over that time but presently as Deputy Photography Editor I manage our pool of freelance talent and guide the photographic look and feel of the the website, dictating the direction of feature, cornerstone and day-to-day stories in pursuit of a singular editorial vision. In terms of production and managerial experience and knowledge of the digital publishing space it's impossible to overstate Gear Patrol's role in my own development. I have gained experience in production, management of a freelance talent pool, image sourcing from multiple sources (stock, freelance, original production), hiring and managing a team to visually support the publication's ever-expanding editorial agenda and working hand-in-hand with our partnerships team to implement the same visual style in our sponsored work.
